The employee's work permit states "laborer" but the actual job involves standing and selling goods in front of the shop — the work permit must be amended, not the job itself. Exworker handles the submission of Form BT.22 to change or add job types in the migrant worker's work permit, covering both laborer → shop sales and vice versa.
This task doesn't involve many documents, but the pitfall lies in the pre-submission assessment: whether the shop has a commercial registration, how many more people the employer's income tax quota allows, and whether to choose "change" or "add" job types. We check these three points first, then prepare the documents and submit.

Does your case meet the conditions? — 30-second check
Prepare documents according to the list below immediately. Only need to check if the quota is not full.
The shop sales side must have commercial registration evidence or official documents related to commercial activities. We help check if it falls under an exemption or requires prior registration.
That is a change of employer, not BT.22 — See Change of Employer Services
Choose correctly before submission: "Change" or "Add" job type
In Form BT.22, only one option can be selected, and the outcomes are completely different.
The original job disappears from the work permit. Suitable for employees who fully transition to shop sales.
Retain the laborer job and add the shop sales job. Suitable for actual work where tasks are alternated — safer if the employee still needs to lift items.
Quota: How many migrant workers can be hired for shop sales
Applies only to shop sales jobs — laborer jobs do not have a hiring ratio specified.
| Employer's status in the past tax year | Can hire |
|---|---|
| Started commercial activities / registered as a legal entity and has no income yet | 1 person |
| Exempt from income tax | 1 person |
| Paid income tax 1 – 50,000 Baht | 3 people |
| Over 50,000 Baht — for every 50,000 Baht, 1 additional person can be hired | Not exceeding 10 people |
| 10 people + hired 30 Thai nationals (for every 10 additional Thai nationals, 1 additional migrant worker can be hired) | Ceiling of 20 people |

Frequently Asked Questions
Does changing the job type extend the work permit's validity?
No, it does not. BT.22 is an amendment to the work permit's details, not a renewal. The expiry date remains the same, and renewal must still follow the schedule for its group.
Does the employee need to be present for submission?
If not present in person, a power of attorney is required from both the employer and the migrant worker, with stamp duty affixed at the correct rate. We prepare both documents.
How many days does it take?
The Department of Employment's document set does not specify the number of working days, and queues vary by area. We will inform you of the actual timeframe for the local office during the case review.
Can it be done without commercial registration?
The shop sales side must have commercial registration evidence or official documents related to commercial activities. There are groups exempt under commercial registration law, but they must genuinely meet the conditions. We can check this for you first.
Can the employee sell goods in front of the shop while waiting?
It is not advisable. Working outside the permitted job type carries liability for both the employer and the employee. The risk exists every day until it is amended.
